Livia Cabernard is Professor in Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agricultural Systems at Technical University Munich. Her research is dedicated to advancing sustainability in global food and agricultural supply chains.

Livia Cabernard, born in Switzerland (1991), studied environmental sciences at ETH Zurich (2011–2017), where she later completed her PhD studies in sustainability assessment of global supply chains at the interdisciplinary interface at the Institute of Environmental Engineering and the Institute of Science, Technology, and Policy (2017–2021), followed by a postdoctoral position (2022–2023). Since 2023, Livia Cabernard is Professor in Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agricultural Systems at Technical University Munich.

Livia Cabernard's research is dedicated to advancing sustainability in global food and agricultural supply chains. Her work combines supply chain analysis, life-cycle assessment, earth observation data, and integrated assessment models to create high-resolution models of global agri-food supply chains with comprehensive environmental impact assessment and scenario analysis. Her research provides novel insights into the hotspots and levers in the global agri-food supply chains to provide sustainable decision support for industry and policy.

Beyond food systems, her expertise extends to bioeconomy, renewable energy production, global trade, and the metals and mining industry, with a strong focus on data modeling and analytical interpretation of results. She has played an active role within the IRP, serving as Lead Author of the IRP G20 Factsheets and Co-Author of the Global Resources Outlook (GRO) 2019 & 2024. Her research directly contributed to GRO2024, including the development of a data visualizer for country-level impact assessments.

Livia Cabernard joined the Panel in May 2025 for a 1-year engagement period, before being considered for full membership by May 2026 (as per IRP standard procedures).
