What is an acceptable level of use of the planet's resources?

Just what is sustainable use of the planet’s natural resources? And how can knowledge of acceptable levels of resource use be translated into management targets?

These are two of the questions considered in a new paper by International Resource Panel member Stefan Bringezu.

In the article, entitled  Towards Science-Based and Knowledge-Based Targets for Global Sustainable Resource Use, Professor Bringezu, Director at the Centre of Environmental Systems Research at Kassel University, in Germany, examines key aspects to be considered for the orientation of policy-making.
