The UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), hosted its Regional Roundtable on Sustainable Finance Europe, co-hosted by AG Insurance and Ageas, on 28 – 29 October, 2025, in Brussels, Belgium.
This Roundtable explored forward-thinking approaches to addressing key sustainability challenges. The event brought together finance professionals to discuss critical issues, including climate mitigation and adaptation, nature and biodiversity risks, regulatory updates in sustainable finance, tackling plastics and pollution, financial health and human rights, and impact and risk management.
On Day 1 (October 28th), Professor Paul Ekins, a member of the International Resource Panel (IRP) member, delivered a Keynote address at 13:20 hrs, during the High-level plenaries. He presented the newly released publication ‘Financing the responsible supply of energy transition minerals for Sustainable Development’.
This report analyses demand, production, trade, and financing of key minerals, highlighting high-concentration regions such as Africa, China, and South America, and presents a series of recommendations for driving finance and investment into responsible mining.
